I Am God
Contributed by Rebeccah Bennett
When asked what are you by a disbelieving world she spoke in riddle saying that, “I am that I am.” They, not understanding, taunted her as one who rode the little yellow bus to school. But she cared not, for she knew that the Infinite was beyond description and that the Gods who had claimed the dreams of mortals would resist the truth.
So, what is the truth, you readers of this text may ask. Slow to answer, she reflects on the wisdom of the sages, “The truth is relative. It is the known unknown, the hidden obvious, the...”
Psychobabble “bs” wrapped in new-ageisms leave her hungry for well, the truth. The truth she replies, with the initial timidity of one who has been branded a heathen, is that I AM GOD! Not the massless, mysterious soul-being who resides in the inaccessible recesses of the great blue yonder, but the flesh of my flesh cosmic consciousness made manifest in the wide hips, strong back, big butt, sharp mind, open heart, helping hand of the round-the-way sistah girl incarnated on North America’s right coast. I AM GOD she says again, a little bolder now for having claimed such an extraordinary truth. Lying is too much work and they, committed to smallness, are destined to outlive their delusions of insignificance. They, you, she are one. So, she knows that by claiming this truth, she invokes the God hidden in the dreams of the sleeping collective.
This is a wake up call! Rise, for it is time to create the world anew in the image and likeness of love. What world is this that defies ancient creation myth to be the child of man? It is the fulfillment of cosmic law, the offspring of wise, wise beings who choose to create with intention and integrity. In this world, smallness is prohibited; fear is transformed and restored to its original enlightened state; and limitation is limited to the realm of the non-existent. Welcome to Nirvana. It exists as the unexplained potential of the routinely open heart. It exists in She, the God in me, who dares to dream of a God-self that is not foreign, white, angry and male. Nirvana lives in the me who defers not dreams and wears not masks, but stands in Earth-based authenticity. I am not writing of ethereal-cereal Shangri-Las. I am writing of truth, as real as rock.
When we accept our Godhood, we exist in a state of bliss that moves us beyond the known world and catapults us into dream time. This dimension is not some primitive make-believe space; it is the indigenous state of soul, the primordial ooze out of which all possibilities arise. And in this state of infinite possibilities, surely there must be a predilection to love fully, brilliantly and completely. Surely there must be a peace that knows no threat; an abundance unfamiliar with scarcity; a compassion that is judgment free; a God wholely realized in me.
So, we have arrived back at the beginning. What am I? I am the dawning of a new day. I am homo sapien sapien stripped of manacle and liberated by love. Come walk with me in the world of the big dreams. Step off cliffs. Merge with sunrise. Swallow the unbelievable. The truth, our home, awaits.
